One could imagine that the incredibly talented Spanish scientists, that I have met during my trip to Antarctica, despite not being paid appropriately by the Spanish government and drowning in paperwork and red tape, could have been recruited for their positions as advertised by the legendary Shackleton in the Times newspaper: “Scientists needed to travel to dangerous places far away, low pay, extreme cold weather, long months of complete darkness, constant danger, no guarantee of a stable job if back”.
